How to Back Up and Restore Data

Last updated 6 months ago

In this video, I walk you through how to back up your data when switching to a new phone or after losing your device.

The good news is that the app automatically syncs and backs up your data, so you don’t need to worry about making a manual backup.

Just make sure to sign in with the same account details you used initially, whether it’s Google, email, or Apple ID.

I demonstrate this process by uninstalling and reinstalling the app to show you how easy it is to restore your information.

Please ensure you use the correct login method to access your data seamlessly.

This video applies to all Time Squared account types as all data is always synced to the cloud.

0:00 I sometimes get asked, hey, I got a new phone or I lost my phone, uhm, how do I back up my data, uh, so that I can get it restored on a new phone.

0:13 Basically, the answer is that the app is always syncing and backing up your data. You don't need to actually actively make a backup.

0:25 All you need to do is just sign in with the same account, the same account details that you had when you first signed up.

0:33 So let me just walk you guys through that, just so you can see and get that peace of mind. Basically, right now I've got some data.

0:40 Times in my account and, uh, I'm signed in. You can see what you're signed in as by going into settings, going all the way down and seeing the email address that you're signed in as.

0:52 Uh, just in case you have more than one email address, it's good to know, hey, this is what I actually used to sign in.

0:59 And let's go ahead and, uh, fully just get rid of this app. Delete it. Uninstall. Okay, it's gone. It's out of here.

1:18 So let's reinstall it. See what happens. I mean, it's going to the same if you're installing on a new phone or what have you.

1:24 We're going to install and, okay, so it's installed. I'm going to launch it again. And I need to be sure to sign in.

1:40 So I'm going to hit sign in instead of getting started with the same login method I used previously. So if I use Google, I'm going to use Google.

1:48 If I used email pass before, be sure to do that. If you, if you're on iPhone and use the Apple ID, be sure to use that because we can't really connect like an Apple ID To an email pass or Google, and so it'll just create different accounts.

2:03 You've got to be sure to use the same authentication method as before. In my case, I use Google, uhm, so I'm just going to use that again.

2:18 And once that's loaded, it says, hey, you're part of these teams. I select the one, uhm, my data is just back to what I had before.

2:26 And yeah, basically very straightforward. you don't need to do anything for it, just be sure to sign into the same account.
