How to Add and Use the Android Widget

Last updated 6 months ago

In this video, I walk you through how to add and use the Android widget for our app.

It's pretty straightforward: just press and hold the app icon, select widgets, and drag it to your home screen.

You can track breaks, punch in and out directly from the widget, and even access it from the lock screen if notifications are enabled.

I encourage you to try adding the widget and see how it enhances your experience with the app. That's itβ€”let's get started!

0:00 Let's talk about how to add and use the Android widget. Uh, it's pretty straightforward, just like any other Android app. 0:11 You, uh, go to your home screen or in here where all your apps are. You press and hold on the app icon and then widgets and drag, drag, drag, okay well in this it's add, or let's try it another way, let's see if we want to get rid of this, you can go to widgets, drag, and here we go. 0:40 You can change the size, it doesn't really matter, it doesn't provide additional functionality if it's bigger, and that's it. You can punch in through the widget, you can, uh, track breaks with it, start and end breaks, or when you punch out it'll just open up, let you review and save here. 1:04 And yeah, if you have notifications enabled for the app, you can see a little widget on the lock screen too. 1:20 Punch out, punch in here, and let's say I'm out of the app, up here you can see a little notification widget that will allow you to punch in and punch out from here, uhm, whereas this is more of a home screen widget. 1:35 And even if your device is, uh, on the lock screen, you can see it here as well, and to start your break, stop your break, or just punch I'll go ahead and unlock to come back in and save. 1:58 And that's it. That's how to. Use and add the widget on Android.
